2019 JUDGING PANEL

In my time in service with Óglaigh na hÉireann, I have seen and experienced the results of  ICRC efforts in the promotion of respect for international humanitarian law and its labours on behalf of the victims of armed conflict. I am privileged to participate on the IRC humanitarian awards judging panel, particularly as the ICRC humanitarian mission is seamlessly compatible with Óglaigh na hÉireann’s values and its commitment to conflict resolution, evidenced by over 60 years unbroken service on United Nations mandated deployments in the cause of peace.”

“RCSI is delighted to partner with the Irish Red Cross in celebrating the work of exceptional people in serving our common humanity in Ireland and across the world. Celebrating leadership, courage and vision through these awards provides inspiration to us all to go that extra distance to make the world a better place for everyone.”

“I am truly honoured to be a part of the Irish Red Cross humanitarian awards judging panel. For so many years the Irish Red Cross has been fighting for the dignity and human rights of the most vulnerable and at risk in our society, so often at times of natural disaster and armed conflict. It is so very important that we recognise the importance of humanitarian achievements and those who give of their time, many in a voluntary capacity, to help others in communities across Ireland and the world.”

“The Irish Red Cross is the best outward expression of Ireland’s desire to promote its humanitarian ideals among the world’s most suffering peoples.”

Dr Niall Holohan, Chairman AICC

“I am delighted to be involved with the Irish Red Cross Humanitarian Awards and to be associated with the effort to shine a light on the work of extraordinary individuals, who help address significant humanitarian issues, and in the process, they really make a difference to the lives of ordinary people, all over the world.”

Julie Sinnamon, CEO Enterprise Ireland

“ As many countries today enter a period of protectionism and nationalism it is critical that national and international humanitarianism is highlighted and celebrated as a higher value.”

Derry Gray, Partner BDO

“Innovation creativity and leadership are the key elements of business growth and human development, progress and prosperity.  Recognising the great contribution of those who bring those skills to some of the complex humanitarian challenges of our time is critical to mobilising government, business and civil society to play their parts”
